Assisting measures for artists affected by the November lockdown

Since 02.11.2020, restrictions have again been in force in Germany for cultural and event businesses. New aid programmes have been launched to compensate for the financial shortfalls. Others, such as the NEUSTART KULTUR programme mentioned below, are still running. Here you can find links to the page of the Überbrückungshilfe and an FAQ on the November Aid (Novemberhilfe) and the New Start Aid for Solo Self-employed (Neustarthilfe für Solo-Selbstständige). An overview of the current support measures can be found in this presentation, which was presented on 16.11.2020 as part of our MONTHLY MEET-UP. The general disclaimer of touring artists applies to this PDF.

National measures / aid funds

NEUSTART KULTUR is the aid programme for the culture and media sector of the Federal Government, which was launched in July. This programme supports pandemic-related investments by cultural institutions as well as projects and artists*. The different programmes are being successively launched.

The cultural funds receive a total of 50 million euros to support projects and artists in the fields they represent.
The funds set up own schemes, about which information can be found here:

Stiftung Kunstfonds

Deutscher Literaturfonds e.V.

Fonds Darstellende Künste e.V.

Fonds Soziokultur e.V.

Deutscher Übersetzerfonds e.V.

Musikfonds e.V.

Furthermore, necessary protective measures in cultural institutions, which are mainly privately financed are supported. Museums, theatres, music clubs and festivals, literature houses, socio-cultural centres and cinemas can apply; an overview of contacts can be found on the BKM website.
