touring artists helpdesk service

Artists and culture professionals (promoters, collectives, associations etc.) of all disciplines can make use of free individual consultations on international projects and working stays abroad or in Germany. The focus of the consulting is on the basics of the administrative rules of international projects and working stays abroad or in Germany. Please note that the information of the touring artists helpdesk service is not legally binding and cannot replace professional tax or legal advice.

The service is aimed at:

  • Artists and culture professionals residing in Germany who have questions related to working stays abroad
  • Artists and culture professionals residing abroad who have questions on working stays in Germany
  • Artists from abroad who have recently relocated to Germany
  • Cultural venues and event organizers in Germany working with artists from abroad

The helpdesk service can advise on the following topics:

  • Administrative regulations related to international projects to/from Germany (visa and residence, transport and customs, taxation, social security, contracts, insurances)
  • Research on mobility funding from/to Germany (export funding, travel or transport support, funding for international projects)
  • Orientation consultations for artists from abroad who have recently relocated to Germany regarding the administrative basics of working in Germany

Unfortunately, the helpdesk service cannot assist with the following concerns:

  • Binding legal and tax advice
  • Networking and collaborations abroad or in Germany
  • General administrative questions not related to international projects (e.g. applications for the “Künstlersozialkasse”)
  • General questions on funding and grants

Consultation by telephone or online 

At the moment the helpdesk service offers individual consultation by e-mail, telephone or online only. The contact person is Sebastian Hoffmann, part of the touring artists team.

The touring artists helpdesk service is a cooperation of ITI Germany, IGBK and Dachverband Tanz with SMartDe – Netzwerk für Kreative e.V., supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.

Consultations for artists and culture professionals from countries affected by crisis are also part of the project ‘International Artists Info Berlin‘, supported by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe Berlin, programme ‘Weltoffenes Berlin‘.
