Dance festivals

Euro Dance Festival (only available in German), Europe's greatest dance workshop festival, annually in the Europa-Park in Rust near Freiburg. 

The internationale tanzmesse nrw adresses international dancers and dance lovers  who want to exchange ideas and get an overview of the current spectrum of contemporary dance. 

Tanz Bremen is an international festival for contemporary dance.

The Tanzfestival Bielefeld combines qualified dance and choreography classes of international teachers with performances of modern dance companies from all over the world. 

The Tanzfestival Freiburg (only available in German) is a festival with top-class national and international dance companies, showing innovations and detecting new trends.

Tanz im August is an annual international "Tanzfest" in Berlin. 

The Tanzkongress offers a collective platform of exchange and meeting to dance experts from both theory and practice.

Tanzplattform Deutschland is the biannual showcase of contemporary dance – for international programmers and at the same time the platform is a stock-taking of contemporary dance.

Tanztage Berlin is an international dance festival, an important platform for young choreographers, taking place annually in the Sophiensaele Berlin.

TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL is an annual international dance festival in Hannover.

TANZWERKSTATT EUROPA is an international workshop for new ideas and aesthetics in contemporary dance and performance as well as a meeting point for dance professionals and amateurs from all over the world. 


Theater festivals

Impulse is an international theater festival in North Rhine-Westphalia, presenting the most important independent theater productions in the German speaking region. 

Mülheimer Theatertage NRW (only available in German)– the forum of German language contemporary drama - showing seven to eight pieces every year, usually world premieres, with the goald to enhance German speaking contemporary theater.

The Wiesbaden Biennale of the Staatstheaters Wiesbaden focuses on issues of European identity. 

PAZZ – Performing Arts Festival is an international working festival, facilitating an productive exchange and connections between state funded theater structures and the independent theater scene. 

The festival Politik im Freien Theater (only available in German) is a triannual Festival in alternating cities of Germany showing top-class independent theater productions from Germany and abroad. 

THEATER DER WELT is the international festival of the ITI, presenting path-breaking developments of the theater worldwide triannually. 

Theaterformen is an international theater festival, annually in Hannover and Braunschweig.

The Theatertreffen of the Berliner Festspiele takes place every year, presenting the ten most outstanding stagings of one theater season of the German speaking region. 

100° BERLIN is an annual independent theater festival of the Sophiensaele and the Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin.


Dance and Theater / combined festivals

Foreign Affairs of the Berliner Festspiele is an international platform for theater, dance, visual arts, and film. 

Euro-scene Leipzig – Festival of European contemporary theater ­– presents experimental theater and innovative dance from all over Europe, taking place annually in Leipzig.

The Internationale Sommerfestival at Kampnagel in Hamburg presents international dance and theater productions. 

RuhrTriennale  – International Festival of the Arts is the interational celebration of the arts in the Ruhr. The great memorials of the industrial age function as venues. 

Theaterfestival FAVORITEN is a biennal festival in Dortmund, supporting the North Rhine-Westphalian dance and theater work continually. It is the most highly remunerated contest in Germany.

Bundesverband Freier Theater e.V. (BuFT)
The Bundesverband Freier Theater (BuFT) (federation of Independent Theaters in Germany) is the umbrella organization of the Länder unions of the independent performing arts in Germany. It represents around 1500 independent theaters all over Germany on the federal political level. BuFT also counsels in cultural and socio-political matters, and in all issues concerning independent theaters.

The Dramaturgische Gesellschaft (dg) (English: dramaturgical society) unites theater makers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It functions as an open network for conversation and discussion and as a forum to exchange experiences between theater makers. 
Goal: seizing ongoing questions and positions of artistic and socio-political value. 

Fachgruppe Darstellende Kunst ver.di (only available in German)
The Fachgruppe Theater und Bühnen/Darstellende Kunst (English: section theater and stages/performing arts) ist the greatest artistic section of ver.di, the united trade union for services. For all jobs and professions from theater and stage.

ITI - Center Germany of the International Theater Institute
The German center of the ITI is part of the world-encompassing network of the theater; for over 55 years attending to the mutual exchange of theater workers all over the world under the umbrella of UNESCO. 
Tasks/goals: initializing of model plans; realization of projects; support of the international exchange in the cultural-political arena; counseling of artists, organizers, and producers for international cooperation. 

Joint Adventures
Joint Adventures conceptualizes and hosts festivals, guest performances, residencies, workshops, conferences, and a choreographic film project in the public space, and cooperates interdisciplinary with artists and partners from Germany and abroad. 

Künstlerberatung Stefan Kuntz (only available in German)
The Künstlerberatung Stefan Kuntz (English: Artists Counselling Stefan Kuntz) offers management consultancy for artists and cultural organizations - from the practice to the practice. 
Subject areas: business start-up; coaching along the way to professional self-employment; information to up-to-date legal regulations as KSK, legal backgrounds; information on social security (provisions), calculations, budget planning, business plan, applications and accounting for sponsors and banks, advisory opinion also for cooperations with international cultural operators, withholding tax.
