A dismemberment schedule is used to assess the degree of disability for private accident insurance purposes. It specifies the applicable percentage of disability upon the disablement or loss of a certain body part. The loss of an index finger, for example, corresponds to a disability rating of 10%, the disablement of a foot to a disability rating of 40%. General dismemberment schedules are often not sufficient for artists - instead, specifically adapted schedules offered by specialized insurance companies must be applied.
